What we do

Food Safety

At ReHarvest Ghana, we take food safety seriously at every step.

We only work with trusted food donors who follow proper hygiene and storage practices. Our trained volunteers handle all food using clean containers and insulated transport to keep it fresh and safe. Rescued food is delivered quickly—often within hours—to prevent spoilage. We never accept or distribute expired or unsafe food, and our team receives regular training to stay up to date on food handling standards. This way, we ensure that every meal we share is safe, healthy, and ready to nourish those who need it most.

We partner with local restaurants, grocery stores, farms, and food businesses to collect fresh, excess food that is still perfectly good to eat. Using a network of trained volunteers and efficient transport, we pick up the food and deliver it directly to shelters, community kitchens, and families—often on the same day. This process not only reduces food waste but also helps fight hunger in a safe, timely, and respectful way.

Food Rescue

At ReHarvest Ghana, we rescue surplus food that would otherwise go to waste and redirect it to people who need it.

Accountability

At ReHarvest Ghana, accountability is central to everything we do. We track each food donation from pickup to delivery using simple digital tools and logs, ensuring transparency at every step.

Our volunteers record key details—like donor, quantity, and recipient—so we always know where the food goes. Regular check-ins, reporting, and feedback help us stay consistent, honest, and reliable. This system builds trust with our partners and ensures that every contribution truly makes a difference.
